- Rafting Aggitis river
Description : Rafting Aggitis river is a unique experience ! It is a river in Northern Greece, 75 km long and an important tributary of the Strymonas river. Its source is in the Falakro mountains, in the regional unit of Drama, near the town of Prosotsani. 6 km of amazing route, all in a canyon with good water flow and two passages of third degree of difficulty will justify us for the choice. The rocks on the right and left are over 100 meters high. The birds accompany us along the entire length of the river. Herons, ducks, hawks, owls, otters, water turtles are the main patrons who show us the way and more! The flora between the rocks is impressive! If all this is not enough, then we will experience something different. Visit by boat or on foot (depending on the water level) to Persephone's cave! This is where history meets mythology. From this cave Persephone passed into Hades. After 400 meters we taste the water from its source in total darkness! We return and continue the descent. We're not done, we go back to base and show off our archery skills. Location : Symboli Serron, 22HM+MG Συμβολή Distance from Athens : 630 km ~ 6,5 hours driving. - Caving and Hiking in Athens
Panos Cave - Mt Parnitha A cave of ancient rituals of the Greek god Pan and his followers the Nymps. It is a cave located north of Athens near the province of Filli in Parnitha mountain. One of the early statements about the cave was given by the historian Pausanias that describes the location and characteristics of this small but beautiful cave. This cave also named “Lichnospilia”, because of the 2,000 oil lamps that were found by archaeological survey. The cave consists of two chambers that connect with each other with a very narrow and low passage. In order to pass through to the second chamber, we have to crawl through the passage. The second chamber has a wonderful basin decorated by stalactite and stalagmite material. The cave ends with a big crack where we can find a second entrance that has a rope descent to the ground floor. Close to the location that we will leave our vehicles stands the Filli Caste, a fortified outpost of the ancient Athenians of the 4th century BC, a megalithic archaeological site, worth visiting.
