Canyoning

Canyoning is a mountain engineering activity that combines climbing, caving and hiking. It is a highly adventurous sports activity, concentrated on crossing gorges, following the water flow and using ropes to descent the difficult parts. During a canyoning experience, you will hike on beautiful mountain trails, cross river ponds, walk on rivers beads, cross canyons and descent on waterfalls with technical means. It is an activity for those who love mountain and water. Multiple locations, daytrips and canyoning weekends can be arranged in canyons close to Athens, like in Parnitha and Gerania, or in other popular destinations such  as Arcadia and Fthiotida, Mt Olympos, Mt Pilio, and the islands of Evia and Samotraki. Prices vary depending on the group size and difficulty of the canyon.

 

Agios Loukas canyon in Ksilokastro area.

-Description

A beautiful and entertaining canyon with many slides and plunges is situated in Ksilokatsro area. This is an easy canyon that suits both beginners as well as demanding and experienced canyoneers.

 

-Distance from Athens : 2 hours and 30 minutes.

 

-Physical fitness levels 
You should have average physical endurance, know how to swim, not be afraid of heights, be able to plunge into the water from 3 metres high and carry a backpack with you personal gear.

 

-Equipment
All participants will be given a complete set of canyoning equipment, and that includes:
(Helmet, 5mm full neoprene wetsuit, safety belt, canyoning backpack and dry bag).

-Duration

Canyon descent: 3 - 4  hours.

Number of descents : 4

Highest descent : 9 meters.

Natural water slides : 2 
Hiking: 45’.
Suggested starting time: 10:00

Miloi canyon Alepohori area, Gerania mountain.

-Description

Dry but challenging canyon at Gerania mountains for beginners and experienced canyoners. Suitable for those who want to do a canyoning trip close to Athens.

Goura canyon in Parnitha mountain.

-Description

We will hike at the beautiful forest and mountain tracks of Fili area, in Parnitha mountain, heading  to the cave of Pan. From there we will get ready to make our way down the canyon. We finish at the monastery of Kleiston in Fili.

 

Distance from Athens : 1 hour.

-Requirements

You don’t need  previous experience to join the tour, good physical condition and love for nature and sports is all you need.

-Physical condition

Basic endurance, you should be able to hike and carry your personal bag with your personal equipment.

-Duration

Canyoning activity : 5 hours

Hiking : 1 hour

Xavos - Kampia canyon Evia island.

Description :

Close to the city of Chalkida in Evia we find the Xavos-Kampia canyon. Our activity will start with a waterfall descent and 3 more at the end of the canyon. We will walk on the river bed between rocks and cracks on the canyon. As we descent the water supply gets bigger, where swimming and jumping on deeper parts is possible making it a fun and entertaining descent.

Distance from Athens : 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Duration 
Canyon descent: 3 hours.

Number of descents : 10

Highest descent : 18 meters.
Hiking: 20-30 minutes.
Suggested starting time: 10:00

Estimated time of exit from the canyon : 14.00

Rodokalos canyon in Iti mountain, close to Lamia.

-Description
In mount Iti you will have the opportunity to see a magical natural environment with dense vegetation, steep slopes and deep canyons. Nearby the historical village of Ypati there is a magnificent hiking route that leads to the mount Iti shelter. This path rises in parallel with the canyon and has a panoramic view. Rodocalos canyon boasts beautiful scenery and the experience of two tall waterfalls, 30 and 45 meters each. If you do not wish to descent down the waterfalls you can take a detour and hike along the path.

Mega Rema canyon, in Agios Kostantinos area.

-Description

One of the most beautiful and entertaining canyons with many slides and plunges is situated on the Athens-Lamia Greek National Road. The beauty and many water games that the Mega Rema Canyon boast raise the bar and place it amongst the best canyons of Greece. It is located close to Athens, central Greece and the sea. This is an easy canyon that suits both beginners as well as demanding and experienced canyoneers. 

Distance from Athens : 2 hours.

Location : Agios Kostantinos, Pthiotida.

NO previous experience is required. All you will need is to be physically fit, love nature and sports. The excursion suits both experienced canyoneers as well as first timers who what to give it a go.

Canyoning at Drymonas Waterfalls

Description :

The beautiful waterfalls of Drymonas are located in Northern Evia, at an altitude of 620 meters.

River Sipias creates an enchanting sight by spreading its water to the dreamy waterfalls. The water drops from a height of 17 meters into a crystal lake surrounded by rocks and forest. This overgrown lake is of great ecological value because of the dense firsland that surrounds it and is combined with the rare beauty of black pine trees!

Distance from Athens : 2 hour and 20 minutes.

Duration 
Canyon descent : 2 - 3 hours.

Number of descents : 2 rappels and a flying fox.

Highest descent : 18 meters.
Hiking: 10 minutes.
Suggested starting time: 10:00

Estimated time of exit from the canyon : 14.00

Difficulty Degree: Easy – suitable for beginners and children (10 years+)

Stomio canyon and river trekking in Neda river.

-Description

Our destination would be in mountainous Arcadia in Peloponesse. The whole area is a hidden gem of nature, with small and big waterfalls, lakes and green tunnels of wild plantation. Neda river provides great amounts of crystal water to the canyon of Stomio, where we will start our descent on the canyon. The crossing takes part on the most beautiful part of the canyon with impressive stone bridges, underwater caves and and narrow passages.
