Arachthos springs from Mountain Lakmos near Metsovo in the general area of Ioannina. It crosses the mountain range of Tzoumerka and forms one of the most impressive gorges in Greece. At his exit gorge there is the famous bridge of Plaka which is the largest single-arched bridge of the Balkans and the 3rd in Europe. Arachthos as a river is of 3rd degree of difficulty and is suitable for beginners and advanced crews according to the route we follow. For experienced crews there is the Kalarrytikos river (more rapid) which flows into Arachthos, with a smaller but annual duration and Voidomatis river that passes through the Vikos-Aoos national park which is ideal for beginners. We can cover one-day, 2-day and multi-day programs. We will meet at our base at the bridge of Plaka, after our short lesson, we will take the company’s vehicles and head to Ampelochori 30 minutes drive up the river. We will prepare equipment and go rafting down the river for 2-4 hours depending on the route. We will stop in the middle of the river to visit a waterfall, we will enter the beautiful gorge and we will pass under the bridge of Plaka, where will be our finishing point.
